Hei Che is gold medal award winning producer of hand crafted, artisan Puer tea from Nannuo Mountain in Yunnan. He is of the Hani tribal people of Yunnan. His family has been on the same mountain growing tea for over 1000 years. Hundreds of years ago Tibetan monks would come visit his family to trade for and buy his family’s artisan teas because they were so well known for their quality production of the ancient and wild tea trees. Every year Hei Che conducts a traditional Hani ceremony of prayer and ritual for the ancient tea trees. They believe the ancient tea trees have provided blessings for their family generation after generation. They believe the tea trees are powerful spirits. To drink the tea from these trees is a type of communication with the spirits and a form of protection for the physical and spiritual body. Many of his tea trees are over 800 years old. All of his teas are hand-harvested, sun dried and cooked over split firewood all the traditional way. No modern machinery. The results are some of the finest handmade, artisan Puers available anywhere.
