Ancient Artisan Baked Heart Green Tea 古樹手工烤心綠茶

Over 200 years ago, Tea Master Kai Wei's ancestors planted these very special, now ancient tea trees that produce his high-quality Bi Luo Chun green tea. His family secret of making artisan, handmade green tea has been passed down since then for generations. Growing at elevations between 6,000-7,200+ feet on Dali Wuliang Mountain, this tea hand-picked, sun-dried, and then hand-rolled using their family secret, resulting in an Ancient Baked Heart, unlike any other green tea we’ve ever tasted. His family takes pride in the fact that their farm is considered an "ecological" tea farm, i.e., only growing organic teas in a sustainable way that preserves the environment. This is a very rare tea and in very limited supply.

2024 Spring

Our Ancient Baked Heart tea grows around 5000-6000+ feet high on Wu Liang Mountain, where it receives tremendous sunlight year-round. It is then dried and stored loosely as to not break the short to medium sized dark and twisted leaves. This tea has a liquor which is light, golden green with a medium body, notes of toasted rice and wildflowers. One cup can be brewed up to 5-6 times.

This tea has multiple health benefits ranging from anti-cancer, anti-aging, to lowering blood pressure and even can clear bad breath. It is a cooling tea so it is especially great if you have been eating fried foods which are heating for the body. Also, a good summertime tea to cool off from the heat.*

Multiple steeping green tea!!

Full flavored green tea. You can truly taste the earth and "old tree" flavor. It delivers flavor for multiple(6+)steepings. Quickly becoming one of my favorite green teas.

Incredibly good! ...and same taste now 5 years later!!

As soon as I tasted this tea it became right away my absolute favorite green tea. So intense, balanced and long-lasting taste, with this lovely natural fresh sweetness staying in the mouth afterwards. As I did my Tea Sommelier course with Wild Tea Qi in Yunnan in 2016, I was lucky enough to be brought to the tea farmer Kai Wei growing and producing this amazing tea in the mountain of Dali. The purpose of this visit was to show and teach us how green tea is processed, so we not only visited the tea gardens where this leaves grow surrounded by wild mountain forest, but we actually learned to process the leaves (tried... did our best... but obviously you don't reach the Master's level that quick...). Kai Wei is not only an incredible tea Master but also a lovely and very kind person, and so as we left he gave to all of us a quite large bag of this amazing Baked Heart green tea. This gift, that I stored in its original plastic bag, at room temperature (obviously fare from optimal green tea storage...), and then forgot about for a while... made me discover an unexpected quality of this tea, which is that now 5 years later... it is still as good as when I get it in 2016! Very unexpected for a green tea which is usually the variety that you can store the less time from all tea types... but in this particular case, incredible but truth, it's the first green tea that I know of that you can store/age for so long without loosing it's original taste and qualities. In fact I was so amazed about this last surprising quality that this is what decided me to give a comment about this tea.

A Gift From Nature

I have tried many different Japanese and Chinese green tea types before but this is a very unique tea. For me, it combines the taste of a steamed Sencha tea and baked Chinese tea. The liqour color is light green and crystal clear. If you have perception like green teas have bitter taste, just try this tea and you will completely change your mind. The leaves are rolled for getting more juiciness and flavor. One more thing that i like most is, the background of the tea, the local farmer and brewing instructions are written on the tea boxes. Thank you WildTeaQi Team!
